Outdoor Therapeutic Work in Hexham, Northumberland

I've been working outdoors therapeutically since 2014 and am certified in outdoor therapeutic work. I completed my MSc dissertation on ecotherapy, specifically exploring how we contain clients outdoors, how we create and hold a therapeutic frame in a space that has no walls.

Outdoor Supervision for Therapists & Trainee Counsellors

What Is Outdoor Supervision?

Outdoor supervision is supervision held in nature, walking and sitting together in the landscape.

It's a process of working in nature, with nature. The natural world becomes part of the supervisory relationship, offering something that four walls simply can't: space to breathe, rhythm to ground you, and a different kind of presence as you reflect on your clinical work.

My approach to outdoor supervision acknowledges nature as a co-facilitator, grounding, holding, and offering a steadier backdrop for the complexity of therapeutic work.

For therapists and trainee counsellors, outdoor supervision can feel restorative in a way that traditional supervision doesn't always achieve.

Ecotherapy for Clients

I also offer ecotherapy (outdoor therapy) for a limited number of clients.

Ecotherapy slots are offered on a limited basis. We meet at the same location just outside Hexham, working in nature, with nature, walking, sitting, and reflecting together.

If you're interested in ecotherapy as a client, contact me to discuss availability.

What Happens in an Outdoor Supervision Session?

We meet at a location just outside Hexham town centre. From there, we walk together, sometimes pausing to sit, sometimes working creatively with what's around us.

During the session we work in relationship with Nature to explore your supervisory needs. This may take the form of simply discussing your client work in Nature, or working creatively with natural materials to explore your work

Outdoor supervision sessions are available in 60-minute or 90-minute formats:

60 minutes: £70
90 minutes: £105
